The Ferndale Dream Cruise Returns!

The Ferndale Dream Cruise returns on Friday, August 16, 2024, and Saturday, August 17, 2024, in Downtown Ferndale at the intersection of Nine Mile and Woodward. Before you rev it up, let's do a quick driving test. 

Public Works Lead Service Line Inspections

DPW will be visiting homes the week of August 12, 2024, and meeting with residents to verify water service material. It should take no more than five minutes to check out the water line and snap some pictures. This research is important to understand the concentration of lead service lines in the area and how to better prioritize the replacement program.

Everything You Need to Know About the August 6, 2024, Election

The August Primary Election is on August 6, 2024. Voters will nominate candidates to represent the major political parties for the November General Election. This election does not include presidential candidates—the Presidential Primary Election was held in February.

Martin Road Park Tree Concern

Please be advised that the playground and pavilion at Martin Road Park are temporarily closed. There is a severely cracked tree that is posing a danger to the area. The Public Works Department is working with an arborist to remove the tree. We know this is unfortunate, but due to the tree's poor health, safety for parkgoers is DPW's top priority. Please avoid the barricaded area. We will provide an update as soon as we can.

New and Improved Election Signs!

Our signs for the upcoming elections just had a makeover, thanks to a collaboration between the City Clerk's Office, Communications Department, and Public Works Department! The old signs were made new to help voters navigate the polls for future elections. 

Water Main Break & Emergency Outage

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is managing an emergency water shutoff on Hilton Rd. and Goodrich St. between Sylvan and Mapledale.

New Parking Rates as of Monday, July 1, 2024

New Ferndale parking rates are in effect as of July 1, 2024. Parking at The dot structure is now $1.25 per hour, all other surface lots are $1.35 per hour, and on-street parking is now $1.60. All parking is still free on Sundays and 14 holidays throughout the year.

Woodward Moves Community Safety Session

We've heard your concerns about the bike lanes, and we're happy to announce that we are hosting a resident-led Woodward Safety Meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in City Council Chambers at 6 PM. We're very excited to welcome Jeffrey Carek, a fellow Ferndale resident and Education Director for the League of Michigan Bicyclists. If you can't attend, the event will be live-streamed on YouTube and can be viewed and shared accordingly.

City Council unanimously approved two important proposals to address vital funding issues for the City's General Fund services as well as critical public safety and recreation facilities needs

Public Facility Tours

Have you ever wondered what a Fire or Police Station is like? 🚓🚒 Check out a guided tour! Our Fire and Police Departments will be hosting facility tours this summer and fall. There are several dates available, but please keep in mind there are some space constraints within the facilities. Dates are reserved on a first-come-first-serve basis with a maximum of ten residents per tour.
