The City of Ferndale, Michigan is under a heat advisory from Tuesday, June 30, to Friday, July 3, 2026. Please view the following tips to stay cool, hydrated, and healthy.
Stay Cool
- Stay in a cool place: A home with AC, a library, a place of worship, a local business, or a cooling center.
- Visit bit.ly/3I5X2IS for a list of Oakland County’s Cooling Centers.
- Young children and elderly community members face greater health risks and lower resilience during periods of intense heat.
- Keep your pets and animals cool, hydrated, and off hot pavement or out of vehicles.
Stay Hydrated
- Don’t forget to hydrate! Hydration is one of the most important ways to avoid overheating.
- Avoid caffeine during periods of extreme heat exposure, as it can worsen dehydration.
- Water is the best way to prevent dehydration, but electrolytes are also a great way to replenish lost minerals and other nutrients.
Stay Alert
- Take rest breaks when you can. If you or someone around you feels sick or overheated, please call 911.
