Snow Emergency Declared on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, has Ended
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2025, UPDATE:
The snow emergency declared on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, has ended. Vehicles can be returned to parking on the streets.
Additionally, if you are a City of Ferndale resident and do not have a driveway, you may be eligible for a snow emergency parking permit. This permit exempts residents from moving their vehicles during a snow emergency. Learn more about the criteria and how to file the permit at https://ferndalemi.gov/resources/snow-emergencies.
Lastly, thank you to the community members who alerted staff about the issue with the text system. We sincerely apologize for this. We are actively investigating this, so it will not happen going forward.
Thank you for your patience. Because of your assistance, the community now has safer, cleaner roads as we approach freezing weather.
A snow emergency will go into effect at 12:30 p.m. today, December 10, 2025. Although heavy snow is not expected, the Public Works Department plans to clear roads before it gets too cold and icy. Their main goal is to keep everyone safe.
During a snow emergency, please move your vehicles off the streets. If you do not have a driveway, you can use one of the designated snow emergency parking lots. See the attached map for locations. EDIT: Vehicles can be moved by no later than 6:00 p.m. No tickets have been issued so far.
It is also important to keep sidewalks clear and shoveled. This helps keep you, your family, and neighbors safe, including people passing by, those using wheelchairs, or anyone out walking their dog.
