Ferndale, Mich.—On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p.m., Ferndale police officers responded to E. Nine Mile Road near Hilton on a report of a pedestrian accident involving a commuter train. Officers and paramedics located the 33-year-old victim unresponsive and immediately rendered emergency aid. Ferndale paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Initial indications revealed that the railroad crossing warning system and gates were operating properly.

The Ferndale Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.

The incident remains under investigation.
