The City of Ferndale has learned that an email virus has been sent out today through an official City employee email address. Many recipients have reported receiving an email like this:

If you have received the email above or any similar email from Assistant to the City Manager Danicea Woods-McSwain, DO NOT open it, click any attachments, respond to the message, or forward it.

The City's IT Department has reported that 9,000 emails were sent to various addresses containing a virus from the time period of 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The City's IT Department has been working diligently to remove the virus and is taking every measure to ensure it does not continue to be sent out.

The City is also working to apply additional safety authentication measures to avoid additional scams, phishing, and viruses.
