Ferndale Police Department Press Release: Friday, November 14, 2025

Ferndale, Mich.—On November 11, 2025, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Ferndale police officers responded to First Merchants Bank, located at 22635 Woodward, for a report of a robbery. An unknown male suspect entered the store with a note demanding money from a teller. The suspect made off with approximately $400 US currency. No one was injured during the incident.

Upon further investigation, the officers learned the suspect committed a robbery in Ann Arbor on November 7, 2025.

The suspect was identified as Alvin Myron Murray, 68, of Detroit. Officers collaborated with Ann Arbor Police and the Oakland County Gang and Violent Crime Task Force to locate the suspect. Murray was arrested on November 13, 2025, around 2:00 pm with assistance from the Southfield Police Department. Investigators learned that Murray committed an additional bank robbery in Mt. Clemens just prior to his arrest.

“Our investigators worked quickly, collaborating with Ann Arbor PD, Southfield PD, and the Oakland County Gang and Violent Crime Task Force to track down and arrest the suspect. This is another great example of interagency cooperation. Once again, ALPR technology proved valuable in identifying and locating our suspect,” said Police Chief Dennis Emmi.

On November 14, 2025, Murray, 68, of Detroit, was arraigned by 43rd District Court Magistrate Brennan on the following charges:

  • Bank Robbery, 1 count, felony

Murray was given a $250,000.00 cash/surety bond and is scheduled to appear next on November 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
