City Partnership with Affirmations

The City of Ferndale is committed to providing exemplary services and support for the LGBTQ community. To that end, the City has partnered with Affirmations—a Ferndale-based organization that serves as metro Detroit's community center for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their allies.

As part of this new partnership, the City has appointed two LGBTQ Liaisons. In their roles, they will work one-on-one with community groups and members; advocate for policies that affect the LGBTQ community; advise the Mayor and City Council on LGBTQ issues in the local, state, and national levels; and work to eliminate bigotry, discrimination, and prejudice on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, HIV/AIDS and expression within the city.
