Deputy Parks & Recreation Director
The City of Ferndale is seeking a Deputy Parks & Recreation Director to work in the Recreation Department. This position will be a key member of our management team and will assist in the oversight, coordination and implementation of all aspects of the Recreation Department. Three to five years of experience in supervisory role is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or related field is required. Salary Range is $48,144 - $60,128. Seasonal Recreation Aide
Assist with all aspects of planning, organizing, and coordinating summer recreation program for youth, teens, and/or adults, including sports, special interest programs, special events, and camps. Schedule: April-October, 25-30hrs/week, evenings and weekend hours included.
Summer Camp Assistant Director
The Assistant Summer Day Camp Director is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the development, planning and implementation of the summer day camp program for children ages 5-12. The Asst. Director is also responsible for training and day to day supervision of camp counselors; ensures that staff members comply with policies and procedures and uses disciplinary actions when necessary; ensures compliance with state license regulations; maintains a safe and secure environment for all staff members and participants; organizes and maintains daily paperwork, timecards and incidents and performs other duties as assigned.
Counselors are responsible for day to day supervision of campers; counselors demonstrate, instruct and lead camp activities on a daily basis including; crafts, games, sports, etc; counselors assist with daily set-up and clean-up; counselors use appropriate disciplinary techniques with participants and logs all accidents; counselors maintain a safe and secure environment for all participants and perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants must be 21 or older, possess a valid driver’s license, and a minimum of 8 weeks of experience working in a day camp or similar setting. CPR and First Aid certification are required; applicants without CPR and First Aid certification will be provided training upon hire.
