Human Resources Director
The City of Ferndale is seeking a Human Resources Director to manage the City’s HR function. This position will be a key member of our management team and will be responsible for planning and implementing all human resource management functions including labor relations, benefits administration, civil service, compensation, employee wellness, managing grievance administration, organizational development and training, position classification, recruitment and selection, risk identification and evaluation, workers’ compensation, and work place safety. A bachelor degree in human resources management, business administration, public administration or related field is required, along with a minimum of 3 years HR experience and some labor relations experience. Professional or Senior Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) is preferred.

Deputy Director of Administration
Under the general direction of the Director of Public Works, the Deputy Director of Administration assists in the oversight of the Department of Public Works (DPW). This position works with, but is not limited to, the City sidewalk program, capital improvement plan, facilities maintenance, road improvement plan, water, sewerage and storm systems, motor pool, GIS, bid preparation, project management, plan review, and records.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Community and Economic Development, the Environmental Sustainability Planner is primarily responsible for developing the City’s near-term and long-term sustainability agenda, tracking progress, engaging external partners, and working with City departments to execute sustainability initiatives. This position will be responsible for reviewing plans and creating recommendations, ordinances, policies, and programs revolving around environmental sustainability.
